Whether it be making one of these drink recipes below at home relaxing by the pool, or enjoying the different atmospheres of these local wineries and breweries. Farmers Brewing Company is a 100% family-owned business located in Princeton, California. Farmers Brewing was founded by Bill and Kristin Weller who both happen to be fifth-generation farmers. They currently produce rice, almonds, walnuts, and wheat and the farm has been in business since the 1800s. Farmers recently took on a new adventure and opened up a restaurant and taproom in Chico, located in Meriam Park. What started as a hobby on the back of Bill’s pickup, turned into a unique brewing facility that focuses on creating seasonal beers that are clean, crisp, and easy to drink.“ Many of the grains used in making our craft beer are grown right on our farm, so we can truly say we are a “Farm to Glass” brewery. “

GALE VINEYARDS

Gale Vineyards is a locally grown and carefully crafted winery established in 2001, owned and operated by Steve and Creasia Gale. Their estates have a variety of organic farming practices, are dry-farmed, and produce rich and concentrated fruits. They proudly prune their vines using the Old World technique of “head pruning” which helps protect the fruit and gives a fuller and richer flavor. Gale vineyards is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine with friends or that special someone. The atmosphere is unique to the area and makes any occasion feel intimate.

ALLIES PUB

Allie’s pub is a traditional pub where people can meet, relax and share stories over a pint or even a glass of wine. They feature a great list of rotating beers and a variety of wines from small family run wineries. This local hidden gem is the ideal place to catch up with a group of friends or celebrate any occasion. “On April Fool’s Day in 1995, our family moved to Chico from the UK; a suburb of London in the county of Kent, known as the “Garden of England”, because of the hops that are famously grown there: Ale is in our blood. An 18 month work opportunity turned into a permanent migration and the family settled and grew up here in Chico, making lifelong friends and becoming deeply invested in the local community. While enjoying everything about our transfer from the UK, we did miss our British beers and the culture of the Victorian and country pubs and so, around 2010, Steve turned back to a hobby he’d practiced from the late 1970s to early 1980s to create some traditional British Ales that were so hard to find here on the West Coast. Emma’s boyfriend at the time (Justin, now her husband) joined in with the brewing process and so Justin and Steve started creating a whole range of British & European style Ales.”

ALMENDRA WINERY AND DISTILLERY

Looking for local handcrafted wines and spirits? Almendra Winery and Distillery is the place to go! Almendra offers a variety of seasonal cocktails for the changing weather and not to mention Almendra’s wide variety of delicious food. Visit them with their new hours Wednesday-Thursday 5-9 pm, and Friday- Saturday 11-9 pm.In 2001, Berton and Carol Bertagna planted their first vineyard in the yard of their Chico home. What started as a small trial quickly developed into a spirited and rewarding journey. The vineyard slowly expanded to several locations and now encompasses a variety of crops including many different wine varietals. In January 2016, Carol and Berton opened Almendra Winery & Distillery in Durham, CA. Over the past few years, they have added a restaurant to the winery & distillery, where they take pride in using locally sourced products.

Opening up a brewery has always been a dream for Charlie and Michelle Barrett, since the early 1990’s Charlie has been an avid home-brewer, in hopes to one day turn this passion into a brewery of his very own. In 2017 Charlie’s dream finally came true and he was able to open Secret Trail Brewery with the help and support of his lovely wife Michelle. Secret trail offers a wide variety of rotating fresh beers, and fruity hard seltzers along with a large assortment of Chico’s local food trucks. This brewery is fun for all ages and is fur baby-friendly.Secret Trail Brewing Company is a community-focused brewery making both classic styles and original innovations. We are a 6,000-square-foot 15-barrel production brewery with two tap rooms and two large patios, offering a wide variety of rotating fresh beer, including American Ales, IPAs, all types of Lagers, Sours, and Fruited Hard Seltzer.
